Sap Calculations

The Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP), a methodology employed by the government, plays a pivotal role in gauging the energy efficiency of residential buildings. This approach serves two primary purposes:

Ensuring Compliance with Building Regulations (Part L): SAP is instrumental in verifying that newly constructed homes adhere to the energy efficiency requirements outlined in Part L of the Building Regulations. By utilizing SAP, the government establishes a standardized framework to assess and confirm that these residences meet specified energy performance criteria.

Water Efficency Calculations

Water Efficiency Calculations

The Water Efficiency Calculator will determine how efficient your build is with regards to water. It is stated in Part G that the maximum water consumption per person, per day, is 125L, inclusive of 5L of outside water. There are also other more stringent regulations where 110 L and even 90 L per person per day have been applied. The manufacturers of the taps (including baths, showers, dishwashers, washing machines, etc.) will provide flow rates. This is critical to get more of an accurate calculation, rather than using default values.

U-Value Calculations

U-Value Calculations

U-Values relate to Part L of the Building Regulations and help ensure that your building’s impact on the environment is the best it can be.

As with all compliances, it’s best to get the advice at the earliest possible stage to ensure compliance is not only met, but also surpassed. It is far easier to do this than change things in retrospect. As energy prices increase, it is far better to have these under control now. The lower your U-Value, the cheaper your build will be to run.

Simplified Overheating Calculation

Simplified Overheating Calculation

With builds held to higher standards and becoming increasingly air tight, we have to ensure that all other aspects are also considered. With our homes becoming more airtight, this increases the risk of overheating. We need to ensure that we install the correct ventilation for the type of build and the correct placement of windows. Our Expert Assessors can advise on these different and other problematic areas.

Overglazed Calculation

Overglazed Calculation

When the glazing exceeds 25% of the overall extension floor area, to comply with Part L1b of the Building Regulation

Air Testing

Air Testing

You need to know how much air leakage your build has to comply with the regulations. You need to ensure that you maintain the tightness of your build, consider the fabric as well as the design!
